Daily News Event

Ara, May 31-‘ To give natural death to the twin sister problems  poverty and unemployment , we need to promote self employment opportunities in a big manner. We need to adopt innovative strategies like Sameual Model of South Korea. We are required to use Swan strategy for achieving our objectives and targets of inclusive growth,’ opined Professor (Dr.) M.M. Goel, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Veer Kunwar Singh University. He was addressing the research scholars of Pre- Ph. D course of the Dept. of Economics here today on the topic ‘Poverty Alleviation in India: Issues, Challenges and Strategies’.

Inclusiveness needs to be understood as inclusion of the excluded segments, care of the cared-less and use of the used-less. This calls for good governance, manpower planning and inflation targeting, told PVC Goel.

To provide ROTI (Bread) and livelihood to the unemployed poor, we need to increase ROTI- Returns on Training Investment, conceptualized Prof. Goel.

The quality of construction should not be compromised under any program of infrastructural development such as “build, operate and transfer” (BOT) which otherwise is very good in times of fiscal crisis at any level of government including local self, said Prof.Goel.

To create a new healthy culture of good governance in  Panchati Raj Institutions (PRIs), the active role of citizens to monitor the wasteful expenditure is crucial. It is necessary to create a conducive climate of economic efficiency. There is certainly a strong case for a feasibility study for undertaking every project anywhere in India. We should not allow politicians to waste our resources on populist politics for winning elections, said Prof. Goel.
